FIGURE DRAWING.

School has finally kicked in. I'm quite grateful to be in busy mode again because, well, I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. I have Figure Drawing this semester and I think it will be quite nice to be able to lose myself for six hours every week in that class. There's something relaxing about not having to worry about anything apart from capturing what's in front of me. Plus, I'm excited to see how much I will improve throughout the next few weeks, if at all. Anyway, here are a few selections from the first session, in order.

In other news, James Jean and Paul Pope are doing a show at my school, apparently. Cue the entire Illustration department peeing their pants. Jean and Pope are also coming to the Baltimore Comic-Con, which I will be attending with my cold heart full of an unhealthy amount of glee.

MATSUYAMA KEN'ICHI.

To make up for my lack of participation in the last Illustration Friday and Illustration Friday Night topics, here are some sketches from last month. I was watching a lot of Matsuyama Ken'ichi films/shows (after seeing him in Death Note) and that time turned into multiple pages in my sketchbook.

I also got into the habit of making those swirly lines in the background (mostly because I was listening to Thom Yorke's "The Eraser" and I had the album cover in my head).
